Goodyear To Partner With Lordstown Motors

Goodyear to partner with Lordstown Motors on tires and will buy some electric pickups.

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company announced a “strategic relationship” with its new neighbor in Ohio, Lordstown Motors. The two intend to “collaborate on tires and service in addition to future tire intelligence opportunities”.

Without a doubt, it will be quite supportive to select the right tires (or even develop all-new) for the all-electric pickup truck with in-wheel hub motors. The Endurance pickup unveiled yesterday was already featuring Goodyear tires.

Erin Spring, Goodyear’s director, new ventures said:

“We want to be the tiremaker of choice for electric vehicle manufacturers and working with Lordstown represents an ideal relationship with shared Ohio roots and shared values of innovation, performance and sustainability,”.

Additionally, as part of the agreement, Goodyear intends to buy some Endurance EVs for itself, but they did not provide any numbers.

“As part of the agreement, Goodyear also intends to acquire new Endurance vehicles to integrate into its own servicing fleet recognizing the sustainable footprint of the all-electric vehicles.”
