Ford owners set for car insurance discounts as ‘premiums are cheaper than last year’

New data from Compare the Market shows the Ford Fiesta Zetec was the most popular car to insure between July and September with prices also down. An average car insurance policy cost £718 last year but has since dropped to £694 in a massive £24 saving.
Prices are also down on the Ford Fiesta Zetec (80) model with costs down £75 from £618 to £543 on average,
Ford Fiesta Zetec’s (99) model is also down £54 as costs fell from £590 to £544 between Q3 2020 and 2021.
The Ford Fiesta Zetec Climate has also seen cost reductions with prices down from £754 to £711 on average.
Meanwhile, two Ford models were also identified among some of the cheapest models to insure.
Ford’s EcoSport ST-Line Ecoboost has dropped from £397 to £335 over the past year to become one of the cheapest on the market.
Ford’s C-Max Zetec (105) model has also dropped from £395 to £339 in another £56 saving over the past year.
Renault’s Captur Iconic Energy was found to be the cheapest car to insure with average premiums down from £404 to just £276.
Nissan’s Qashqai Acenta premium and Qashqai N-Connecta were second and third on the list with premiums at £305 and £314 on average.

Ursula Gibbs, director at Compare the Market said “lots of factors” affected car insurance prices.
She said everything from engine size to repair costs and security features could impact the overall cost of vehicles.
She said: “Car insurance is usually one of the most expensive running costs for drivers, so most will be relieved that premiums are cheaper than last year.
“However, many drivers might fail to take advantage of these savings if they simply auto-renew their insurance with their current provider.
