The update will ensure Citroen C5 Aircross SUV Hybrid owners will receive notifications if they do not recharge their batteries regularly. The new Plug-in reminders will pop up on the screen of the electric car to remind drivers to continue to top up.
This will be sent if at least five days have passed or 10 journeys have been made since the car was last topped up.
If the car is then not plugged in for 30 days, the notifications will then be displayed twice per day while the vehicle is in use.
The new updates have been designed to help customers optimise the efficiency of their Hybrid models.
In turn, Citroen says this will also come with environmental benefits.
Hybrid cars use a mix of both electric power and a traditional internal combustion (ICE) engine to run the vehicle.
Drivers who charge their vehicles daily will likely run on 100 percent electric power for most of their everyday journeys.
Recent data shows that at least 55 percent of journeys of fewer than 25 miles are made using electric power.
A total of 52 percent of customers already charge their vehicle once or twice every 62 miles.

Citroen says a rise in charging frequency would further increase the proportion of electric-only journeys.
This would limit the amount of times cars tap into their ICE and would therefore reduce fuel consumption.
When connected to a wallbox or public charging point, the C5 Autocross SUV hybrid can receive a full charge in less than two hours.
The car is capable of up to 34 miles per charge according to WLTP estimates.
