Ben Sheridan, AA Patrol of the Year said it was “important” drivers maintained clear vision on the roads at all times and followed driving laws. They warned fog was more common in the winter months and could even appear this week.
Mr Sheridan urged drivers to “top up the windscreen wash” and check for “nicks and tears” in wiper blades.
He also urged drivers to clean the windscreen “inside and out” to get rid of grime.
He said drivers would be “surprised” at how much a simple clean can reduce dazzle from other vehicles.
He said: “During late autumn, as well as checking all your lights and tyres, it’s obviously very important to maintain clear vision.
“Top up the windscreen wash with a good quality, purpose-made additive to reduce the chance of freezing.
“While you’re at it, run your finger down the wiper blades to check for nicks and tears, as they tend to last for two years at the most.
“Also give the windscreen a thorough clean, inside and out, as a layer of grime quickly builds up and you’d be surprised what a difference it makes at reducing dazzle.
“While there may not be too many fresh flowers around at this time of year, the AA’s handy FLOWER acronym will help drivers remember what to check on their car.

Statistics show that bad visibility fog regularly contributed to around 20 fatal crashes each year.
Alongside this, there are also hundreds of serious incidents recorded on the roads.
Latest figures show that the fog kill rate increased slightly in 2020 despite the pandemic.
