Maruti Suzuki Baleno scores 0 stars in Latin NCAP crash test
The Suzuki Baleno for the Latin American market is manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant.
The made-in-India Suzuki Baleno has been awarded a zero-star safety rating by Latin NCAP.
The Baleno scored 8.01 points for adult occupant safety and 8.36 points for child occupant. The car scored 30.75 points and 3.0 points for pedestrian safety and safety assist systems, respectively.
The car offered good protection to the driver and passenger’s head and neck in the frontal impact test. On the other hand, the driver and passenger’s chest showed adequate protection, whereas their knees showed marginal protection. The footwell area and bodyshell were rated as stable.
Head and pelvis protection was rated good in the side impact test. Abdomen protection was adequate, and chest protection was poor, leading to zero points for this test.
The child seat for the 3-year-old child was able to prevent excessive forward movement of the head. Frontal and side-impact protection was good. The dynamic score was 0 as Maruti Suzuki declined to recommend CRSs for the test.
