Audi Unveils the 300 HP Q4 Sportback e-tron Concept

Before even unveiling the production Q4 e-tron, Audi has unveiled its first variant, the Q4 Sportback e-tron concept. If nothing else, it reveals the byzantine naming conventions Audi plans to adopt in the electric future.

Audi also revealed that the Q4 Sportback e-tron will go into production in 2021. The Q4 and the Q4 Sportback are almost identical in width and height, though the Sportback is less than half-an-inch shorter than the standard model.

Compact SUVs both, the Q4 will be smaller than the e-tron SUV and roughly the same length as the Q5.

Under the hood, Audi promises 301 hp for both the Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Sportback e-tron, as well as a 0-62 split of 6.3 seconds and a limited top speed of 111.8 mph.

As you might expect, the Q4 Sportback e-tron will be offered with all-wheel-drive. You might want to go for the RWD model, though, since the 82 kWh battery will get up to 310 miles of range, whereas the AWD models are expected to get 280-odd miles of range.

Inside, owners will have access to a 12.3-inch touchscreen in the center of the dash and another big screen serving as the instrument binnacle. Instead of chrome plating and leather, Audi is going for a recycled interior that fits into the green ethos.

This is still a concept, so some changes may occur between now and its 2021 production date, but given the length of time between now and then, we wouldn’t expect the changes to be too big.
